  • Junior/ Senior Technical Specialist – Fuel Cells More

    We are looking for a Technical Specialist (Fuel Cells) to join our expanding technology team – this role is based on-site in our facility in Crawley.

    The Technical Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing the Bramble Energy core fuel cell stack technology. The role will suit an applicant with a background in working (e.g. designing, prototyping & testing) with PEM fuel cell technologies.

    • Development & optimisation of core Bramble Energy fuel cell technology
    • Providing technical direction to Bramble PCBFC stack development and delivery projects ​
    • Working to deliver objectives of Bramble Energy technology strategies/roadmaps
    • Specification & design of new Bramble FC solutions (cascaded from customer requirements​)​
    • Communicating regularly with internal teams via technical reports & presentations
    • Make key contributions in strengthening Bramble Energy’s IP portfolio

    Person Specification

    • PhD in PEM fuel cell discipline with relevant industry experience
    • Experienced in working in a R & D environment (amongst specialists in their own field)
    • Proven track record in working across multi-disciplined technical teams
    • Proven technological innovator – both in IP development & problem solving

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Practical experience in developing PEM fuel cell technology
    • Experience of PEM fuel cell stack assembly, technical fault diagnosis & problem solving
    • Operation of specialised FC test rigs & instrumentation in a hydrogen laboratory environment
    • Familiar with addressing key challenges of fuel cell stack and system design/specification
    • Familiar with real-world challenges of PEM fuel cell stacks & systems
    • Experience of designing & developing key PEM fuel cell components  – e.g. – MEAs, membranes, gas diffusion layers & flow plates – (from CAD design through to production via 3D printing, CNC etc.)

    Desired

    • Designing PEMFC validation protocols (startup, rapid conditioning, accelerated stress testing etc.)
    • Use of advanced electrochemical diagnostic methods (cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy etc.) to analysis FC performance
    • Strong project management skills via Jira, MS Project etc)
    • Familiar with manufacturing methods for FC MEAs
    • Experience of writing Labview software is a particular advantage
    • Published author of technical papers/patent applications etc

  • Test Scientist More

    We are looking for an experienced Test Scientist to join our expanding test team, this role is based on-site in our facility in Crawley. The Test Scientist will work on developing novel coatings for use in our PCB fuel cells, working as part of a team to conduct hands-on ink and coating evaluation, as well as performing failure analysis, material inspection, along with electrochemical and other laboratory testing.

    The role will suite an applicant with a history of implementing and conducting rigorous laboratory test procedures and experience producing high quality testing results.

    • Undertake and develop robust procedures to conduct electrochemical corrosion experiments in the laboratory
    • Support the Corrosion Lead in delivering results to develop Bramble’s passivation inks, this will include electrochemical, physical and resistance testing using laboratory equipment
    • Support the Platforms team to evaluate Bramble’s sensor technology and perform regular quality control testing of devices
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality and consistency of testing in the passivation laboratory
    • Follow health and safety guidelines and, where necessary, complete new risk assessments to uphold a high standard of laboratory safety
    • On time delivery of testing plans
    • Quality control and reporting of test results
    • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve goals

    • Previous experience managing laboratory testing and the delivery of quality test results
    • Risk assessments and health and safety understanding
    • Use of methodical processes to solve complex issues
    • Self-starter able to work both autonomously and part of a team
    • Good oral and written communication skills

    Desired

    • Experience in electrochemical or materials corrosion research and development
    • Experience of working with hazardous materials
    • Experience working in an industrial research environment
